Our retaining walls are constructed with the custom engineered Verti-Block system.

VERTI-BLOCK

Verti-Block is an entirely new retaining wall system that’s as beautiful as it is innovative.

We literally removed tons of weight from our blocks, making them easy to install without heavy machinery. Incorporating engineering techniques that eliminate placement errors and allowing for more flexibility with drainage. Male and female block connections eliminate placement error, ensuring strength and an exact installation every time.

Our retaining walls are easy on the eyes, so they add to the beauty of any landscape.

Verti-Blocks are built to work in almost any space and can accommodate tight curves and winding landscapes.

Installation is seamless and quick. Our hollow design makes for a less labor-intensive process that’s a lot more practical than the traditional cast-in-place walls.

Canyon Ledge style

Standard Block

1,760 lbs (800 kg)

Your bread-and-butter block, the standard block measures 4’ x 2’ on the face and 3’ deep and will make up 90% of your wall.

Top Block

1,312 lbs (595 kg)

With a face identical to the standard block, the top block features a cutout that allows soil/grass over the top of the block.

Half Block

1,070 lbs (480 kg)

A half-wide block with a 2’ x 2’ face, half the width of a standard block, is necessary at the ends of every other course.

Corner Block

1,600 lbs (720 kg)

Used for outside corners, the corner block has a 4’ x 2’ face with another 2’ x 2’ face on either side to form a corner.

Half Step Block

970 lbs (440 kg)

These blocks are used when you need a more precise height or when you want to step up the elevation in 1’ increments.

Mass Extender

Same as the standard block but with a deeper 4’ x 7’ face, this block is used on the base course to add more mass to strengthen your wall.

STAIN COLOR OPTIONS

No matter the design of your property, our 25 earth-like stain colors can create a perfect match for your retaining wall with the surrounding environment.

VERTI-CRETE COLOR STAIN

Verti-Crete Stain is a water-based acrylic coating designed for superior penetration into concrete. It ensures moisture proofing, color stability and ultraviolet resistance.

When properly applied it will not discolor, peel, crack or blister.

Multiple coatings can be applied for color combinations on concrete and masonry and correction of natural color imperfections.

Verti-Crete Stain will impart a uniform color on all forms of concrete: precast, poured, glass-fiber-reinforces, brick, stucco and stone surfaces.

The water-based composition makes it a user-friendly product, which is solvent-free, odor free and safe on interior surfaces. Verti-Crete stains comply with all Volatile Organic Compounds regulations.

H&C® COLORTOP™ COLOR CONCRETE STAIN -DATA SHEET

VERTI-BLOCK WALL INSTALLATION

Step 1 - Excavation

Excavate and prepare leveling pad trench 6″ (or 12″ if necessary) below the first course
Normal trench burial depth is 6″ to 12″

Step 2 - Foundation Preparation

Compact Sub Base to 95% Standard Proctor Density or greater
Remove any poor soils in the Sub Base and replace with proper fill materials before compacting

Step 3 - Leveling Pad Construction

Compact crushed stone leveling pad to 95% Standard Proctor Density or greater
Ensure pad is level and smooth to allow placement of blocks

Step 4 - Wall Unit Installation

First Course Procedure

Lay perforated drain pipe in center of leveling pad
Place first course of block directly on leveling pad over the drain pipe

Step 5 - Wall Unit Installation

Fill all voids with clean crushed stone
Sweep off excess crushed stone in preparation for next course

Step 6 - Geotextile Placement

As required, place Geotextile filter fabric between blocks and compacted backfill
Compact backfill behind blocks in lifts no more than 12″ high
Lay second course of blocks on top of the first course
Continue to fill voids with crushed stone for proper drainage

Step 7 - Geogrid Reinforcement Installation

Lay geogrid strips over top of each courses of blocks
Overlap adjacent cources ~2 inches

Step 8 - Backfill Placement and Compaction

Continue compacting backfill material in lifts every 12″ as subsequent block course are placed
Continue to lay block course until the top row is completed

Step 9 - Final Grade and Landscape

Ensure that final grading is done on top and bottom of the wall
Make sure to protect newly placed planting soil from erosion during heavy rains or surface runoff
